Edward Elric Name: Edward Elric
Title: Fullmetal Alchemist (鋼の錬金術師)
Introduction: The eldest son of the Elric family and a brilliant alchemist at a young age. He learned alchemy by studying the books of his late father who was a state alchemist. After his mother died of an unknown illness, Edward and his little brother Alphonse set out to learn alchemy under a master. After completing their training, they returned to their hometown Resembool to attempt human transmutation, and try to revive their dead mother. However, their experiment goes horribly wrong and after the transmutation Alphonse in ripped out of this world by an unknown force. In a desperate attempt to save his little brother’s life, Edward tries a soul attachment alchemy and binds Alphonse’s soul to an empty armor. In the process however, Edward loses an arm and a leg. After the incident, Edward replaces his lost body parts with an auto-mail and after meeting the man called Roy Mustang, he sets out to become a State Alchemist and get his little brother’s body back. Edward has the obvious disadvantage in height, but his skill as alchemist will soon earn him the title of Full Metal Alchemist.

Alphonse Elric Name: Alphonse Elric

Introduction: The youngest son of the Elric family. His father was a famous researcher and state alchemist, and like his older brother he taught himself how to use alchemy. After studying alchemy with their master Izumi, Alphonse and Edward attempt to revive their deceased mother through human transmutation. However, the experiment turns into a horror as Alphonse’s body is being pulled into another dimension. In desperation, Edward affixes Al’s soul to a nearby armor. The price for that, however, was that Edward lost an arm and a leg. Now Alphonse continues to live as a soul inside a giant, empty armor. He feels guilty about what happened, and wants to journey with his brother to get his arm and leg back. He’s very loyal to his brother, but he is easily influenced because of his naive nature.

Roy Mustang Name: Roy Mustang
Title: Flame Alchemist
Introduction: A State Alchemist and Colonel in the army. Roy Mustang became famous for the way he handled himself during the Ishbal conflict and held a number of important positions within the army. He is best friends with Maes Hughes, and together they aim to become the most powerful faction in the army. Roy uses a special technique of alchemy that alows him to manipulate fire in battles, earning him the title of Flame Alchemist. Roy becomes interested in the Elric brothers after hearing that they attempted human transmutation, and he gives them an opportunity to become State Alchemists by letting them participate in the State Exams. When it comes to doing paperwork or formalities, he is quite lazy, but he is a formidable fighter whom should not be taken lightly. His aim is to one day become Fuhrer.

Izumi Curtis Name: Izumi Curtis
Title: Master Alchemist
Introduction: The master who taught Edward and Alphonse about the truth behind Alchemy, and also taught them how to survive on their own. She is a tough lady and makes sure that Ed and Al learn how to discipline themselves. She is a talented alchemist who doesn’t need a transmutation circle to perform alchemy, just like Al. She bears the mark of a master alchemist on her chest, and is known as both a beautiful and wise woman. She loves Ed and Al as if they were her own children, and she will protect them no matter what. She has a mysterious condition that causes her to cough up blood from time to time, which worries the brothers. She was taught alchemy by another master called Dante, who lives in a secluded mansion in the woods near Izumi’s village. Her husband is a muscle-man and a butcher by profession.

Alex Louis Armstrong Name: Alex Louis Armstrong
Title: Strong Arm Alchemist
Introduction: One of the generals who participated in the quelling of the Ishbal uprising. The Armstrongs have been important figures in history, serving as generals in the army and officials in the government. Their wealth is astonishing, but even so the Armstrongs have remained loyal to their duty. Alex Louis Armstrong has an imposing physique, that is matched only by his astonishing good looks (...). He loves posing, especially for the ladies, and he takes pride in everything that he does. He takes care of the Elric Brothers after they are injured by Scar, and he loves them like his own little brothers. He uses a technique of alchemy that allows him to propell boulders through use of his fists, which earned him the title of Strong Arm Alchemist. He is a tough opponent but a softy inside.

Shou Tucker Name: Shou Tucker
Title: Sewing Life Alchemist
Introduction: Before becoming a State Alchemist, Shou Tucker lived in poverty with his wife and daughter Nina. His wife could not bear living poorly and disappeared, leaving Shou and Nina by themselves. A little while later, Shou passed the State Qualification Exams by presenting the first Chimera in the world who could speak and understand human language. Because of his great knowledge of Bio-engineering, he was given the title of Sewing Life Alchemist, and promoted to State Alchemist. In return for his research done with Chimeras, Shou now lived a comfortable life with his daughter in Central City. When the twelve year old Edward Elric shows up on his doorstep he had little faith that the boy would become a State Alchemist. Nevertheless Shou allowed Ed and Al to study at his house and guided them along with way. Little did he know that the vertically challenged child alchemist would change his life drastically...

Tim Marcoh Name: Tim Marcoh
Title: Crystal Alchemist
Introduction: Tim Marcoh was one the State Alchemists who were sent to quell the rebellion in Inshbal. He had been doing research on the philosopher’s stone, and its uses for the military. However, during his research, he discovered something that changed his whole outlook on alchemy, and he wanted to stop researching the philosopher’s stone. However, Lance Brigadier Basque Gran, who was in charge of the research did not agree with Marcoh, and the research had to continue. Tim Marcoh had successfully created an artificial prototype of the philosopher’s stone, and the little red stones were used in the war to amplify the abilities of the alchemists. Tim Marcoh was against the use of the philosopher’s stone in battle and deserted from the military. Years later, after visiting the city of Xenotime, Edward Elric hears rumors of a alchemist doctor who uses a red stone to cure injuries. The doctor’s name was Tim Marcoh...

Nash Tringam Name: Nash Tringam
Title: None
Introduction: Little is known about this alchemist from the city of Xenotime. He was a researcher who travelled to Central City to learn more about alchemy, and more specifically, the philosopher’s stone. He created a substance known as the “red water”, which was the compound that formed the testing product for the real philosopher’s stone. When the city of Xenotime was decaying because the mountains had no more gold to mine, a landowner called Maguar showed up at Tringam’s house and begged him to make gold with the philosopher’s stone. Tringam initially rejected, but eventually gave in to the pleas. Later, for an unknown reason, Nash Tringam disappeared, leaving his two sons Russel and Fletcher to fend for their own.

Kimbley Name: Zolf J. Kimbley
Title: Crimson Alchemist
Introduction: One of the most violent State Alchemists, he was an aggressive force during the Ishbal uprising and became known for his total disregard for human life. The alchemy he uses makes bombs out of people by slightly altering the structure of their body. During the war he killed countless of people, including his own soldiers, because he used them as bombs. After the conflict was settled and the Ishbal people surrendered, Kimbley was sent before a court marshall and was sentenced to death after being found guilty of multiplie homocide against his own army. But Kimbley escaped from his prison during an incident revolving the young Edward Elric, and once again he set out on his path of utter destruction.

Basque Gran Name: Basque Gran
Title: Blood Arm Alchemist
Introduction: A Brigadier General in the army and a fearsome State Alchemist. He wears a special bracelet on his right arm that he transmutates into a cannon during battle. He was the leader of the unit of State Alchemists that was sent to Ishbal. He ordered Tim Marcoh to prepare rings with small versions of the artificial philosopher’s stone in order to increase battle strength. During the war, Basque Gran went for the total annihilation of the Ishbal people, and he almost succeeded. He captured the territory and was promoted to Brigadier General. After the Ishbal conflict, he supported the young alchemist Shou Tucker and took command over his research into bio-engineering. Basque Gran hates Roy Mustang and the shorty Fullmetal Alchemist, and desperately tries to find the deserter Tim Marcoh so that the research regarding the philosopher’s stone could continue.
