Millennial Fair – Final Fantasy VIII Tips & Tricks

Seifer and Squall

Capitalising on Squall’s Gunblade

The Gunblade is a very unique and, when used correctly, powerful weapon, but to capitalise on it’s special technique, one must first know how to do so, as the concept of merely attacking will not draw out the full capability of Squall’s weapon. To do so is simpler than one would first think; simply press the R1 button on your controller once Squall is about to strike his opponent, and he will also pull the trigger of his Gunblade, thus capitalising on the weapons full potential.

Boosting GFs

The GFs are some of the most powerful creatures within Final Fantasy VIII, and will certainly be amongst your most powerful attacks. Like capitalising on Squall’s Gunblade, there is a certain way to capitalise on the abilities of your GFs. Once you acquire each of your GFs, be sure to have the ability “Boost” as being one of the first techniques they learn. When in battle, press the select button when summoning a GF. This will enable you to see the square button with a white finger upon it. When the finger hasn’t got a red cross over it, continuously press the square button until the cross does indeed appear, and the attack of your GF will increase significantly.

The islands closest to Heaven and Hell

The islands closest to Heaven and Hell are perhaps the best places to train within Final Fantasy VIII, containing some of the most powerful monsters one could face, along with some of the best draw points in the game. The island closest to Heaven can be found near the Chocobo Shrine, and the island closest to Hell can be found just west of Winhill. Each are just a single island, so land and check your location to find out if you are indeed on the island in question.

Easy money

Before performing this trick, make sure your Tonberry GF has the Haggle, Sell–High and Call Shops commands, and have your Carbuncle GF have Recov Med–RD command. Buy numerous amounts of Tents and refine 4 into one Mega–Potion. Sell one Mega–Potion for a total amount of 4500 gil for each; if you do this enough times, you will have attained more money than you will ever need.

Vast amounts of Megalixers

The Megalixer is most definitely one of the most useful items one could use in the game, but to attain a satisfying amount of them is not an easy thing to do. However, you can refine a total of 99 Megalixer’s if you were to refine your Bahamut card, which can be attained by the means of simply defeating Bahamut. Of course, the downside of this is losing the very valuable, rare and powerful Bahumut card, so if you are a fan of the card game in Final Fantasy VIII, this may not be such a great idea; if you are otherwise, it is a very useful trick.
