The friendly animals (Top)
The friendly animals are scattered throughout the world of Gaia, and can only be found in forests.
The friendly animals will never attack you, but if you were to attack them, they will run away and you
may not get to see them again. By giving the animals what they desire, you attain the item which you
need to give to the next, and also acquire a lot of AP. Furthermore, by completing the sidequest, you
enable Ozma (the hardest boss throughout the game) to have a certain weakness towards the element
Shadow, thus making him easier to beat. Here is a guide on as to where you can find each friendly
animal, and also what you get from doing so.

Stellazzio Coins (Top)
Queen Stella in Treno is a collector of the Stellazzio coins, but requires someone to collect the
precious coins for her. The Stellazzio coins are scattered throughout the world of Gaia in various
places, and can often be rather tricky to get a hold of. For each Stellazzio coin you deliver to Queen
Stella, she shall award you with various amounts of money and valuable items. Here are the locations
of each Stellzzio coin and what Queen Stella rewards you with once you have delivered the respective
coins to her, sorted in alphabetical order:
Aquarius - Location: Right hand chest in the entrance of Ipsen’s castle
Reward for retrieval = Phoenix Pinion
Aries - Location: Dali’s windmill
Reward for retrieval = 1000gil
Cancer - Location: Behind the Overturned Cart near the entrance of Burmecia

Reward for retrieval = Robe of Lords
After collecting and delivering all 12 Stellazzio coins to Queen Stella, she feels that there is
yet another Stellazzio coin to collect, and give you each Stellazzio coin back as clues on as to where
the coin is. Well, you can try to figure out the riddle for yourself, or you can look below for the
location of the last Stellazzio coin: Ophiuchus.
Ophiuchus - Location: Collect all 12, then search where Scorpio was found
Reward for retrieval = Cinna’s Hammer
Jumping Rope (Top)
When in Alexandria, you will encounter 3 girls jumping rope. The location of the girls differs
before and after Alexandria was destroyed, but the aim of the game always remains the same. Vivi and
Eiko are the only playable characters who are able to participate in this little side quest and
therefore they must be present in your team in order for you to play. The speed of the rope increases
as you get further in the amount of jumps you make, but as does the prize. Here is a list of what you
attain for certain amount of jumps:
20 jumps: 10 gil
50 jumps: Cactrot Card
100 jumps: Genji Card
200 jumps: Alexander Card
300 jumps: Cat Paw Racket
1000 jumps: King Of Skipping Title
Coffee Beans (Top)
When you first visit the old man in the watch tower of Dali, he will explain to you that he loves
to drink coffee but there are three brands of coffee, which are very rare, that he has yet to taste.
If you collect each of these coffee’s from around the land, he will award you with the Prima
Vista figure. You have to complete this before disc 4, as the old man will die by that time. Here is a
list of each brand of coffee and where they can be found:
Mocha: South gate close to Chocobo Forest. Check to your right once there.
Killiman: The kitchen of Madain Sari.
Bullman: In Disc 3, before going to the card tournament in Treno, visit Dali once more and search the Mayor’s room for the key to open the locked door behind the windmill.
Mognet Central (Top)
In order to solve the mystery of Mognet Central, you must have paid attention and delivered each
and everyone of the letters given to you by the Moogles throughout the course of FFIX. If you have
failed to do that, there is no time limit for you to do so, so don’t worry; the only thing that
changes as you travel further into the game is that of the Moogles location. Once you have done this
and have moved on to Disc 3 of the game, travel to Alexandria and speak to Kupo, and he will give a
little hint of Mognet central as well as a letter for you to deliver to his pal Atla. Atla can be
found at Bermecia and he will give you a letter to give to Mogryo, whom can be found in Black Mage
Village. Mogryo will ask you to deliver a letter to Kumool, whom can be found in Ipsen’s castle.
Kumool will ask you to deliver a letter to Mois, whom can be found in the Ice Cavern before Disc 4 and
Fossil Roo during Disc 4. However, the only way to enter Fossil Roo is to have Quina present in your
party, so make sure to put her in and go to the Qu’s Marsh near Lindblum’s Dragon gate. Mois
will ask you to deliver a letter to Noggy, whom can be found in Daguerreo. Finally, Noggy will ask you
to deliver a latter to Kupo, whom is still in Alexandria.
Note: If you have any trouble locating any of the other Moogles, please feel free to send me an
email and I will happily help you out.
Once done, Kupo will realise the problem faced in Mognet Central and will ask of you to locate an
item called Superslick; he also says that an inhabitant of Alexandria holds this very rare item. That
inhabitant is no other than your old friend Ruby, and she is more than happy to give it to you.
Now, travel to the island north of the Outer Continent once Choco has become a Gold Chocobo, where
you will find none other than Mognet Central. The reason you need Choco to be a Gold Chocobo is due to
there being a crack on the mountain, meaning Choco has to dig his way in by the means of feeding him a
Dead Pepper.
Once inside Mognet Central, give the Superslick to Artemicion and Mognet Central will be up and
running once again. You will get yourself a Protect Ring, Artemicion and the number of letters you
have successfully delivered throughout the course of the game, finally bringing the Moogle side quest
to a stop.

Kupo Nuts (Top)
When you first travel to Gizamaluke’s Grotto in Disc 1, you will meet a newly wed
couple of Moogles, the male of which absolutely loves Kupo Nuts. The first time you give
him a Kupo Nut, which is inevitably in Disc 1, he will award you with a
Gizamaluke’s bell. Once the attack on Linblum has taken place, you can give the
Moogle another Kupo Nut in order to receive an Elixer. If you deliver another within
Disc 3, you will be rewarded with an Extension. Finally, once you deliver a Kupo Nut
within Disc 4, you will be rewarded with the Aloha T–Shirt. The Aloha
T–Shirt isn’t anything special for battle, but is more special in
it’s style. Any spare Kupo Nuts delivered will be rewarded with Tents,
Ether’s or Phoenix Pinion’s
Stiltzkin (Top)
Stiltzkin, a renowned Moogle who travels the land, can always be found with other
Moogles throughout your time on the planet. He will frequently appear as you proceed
through the game, but he doesn’t stay in one place for too long. When you do find
him, he will always have a certain deal for you; sometimes you may have to talk to him
several times before he actually makes the deal. The deals he makes are very good, giving
you useful items for good prices. Although he tells you that your buying these items will
help him through his journey, no matter whether you do or don’t matters not; he will
always re–appear in the next destination of the game. Here is a list of each item
he sells you, at what price, and where he sells you it:

Treno’s Weapon Shop Monsters (Top)
The weapons shop of Treno is not just for selling weapons, but is also a place where
one can battle powerful monsters in order to attain special prizes. One character from
your party can take up this challenge 4 times in total; once in Disc 2, two in Disc 3,
and once in Disc 4. The later the disc, the harder the monster, and the better the prize.
Here is a guide on each monsters statistics, some help to beat each, what disc they
appear and the item you receive for defeating them.
Griffen, Disc 2
HP: 1, 470
MP: 602
Level: 16
Weaknesses: Bird Killer, Wind
Item gained for defeat: Tonberry Card
Make sure you have the “Bird Killer” ability equipped, and also make sure you have
the “Auto–Potion” ability equipped, as you won’t want to be
wasting turns healing. The Griffen should fall in a few turns, but if you want to ensure
victory, simply chuck a tent on the monster in order to inflict all status effects upon it,
rendering it virtually harmless.
Catoblepas, Disc 3
HP: 3, 727
MP: 1, 069
Level: 32
Weaknesses: Best Killer
Item gained for defeat: 15000 Gil
Have the “Beast Killer” ability equipped in order to have the damage inflicted
upon this beast increase significantly, and the abilities “Jelly” and
“Auto–Float” will decrease the damage of Catoblepas’s attacks to a
great extent. Just like last time, if you chuck a tent on this beast, it will inflict
every negative status effect available upon Catoblepas, making it an easy opponent.
Amdusias, Disc 3
HP: 6, 578
MP: 1, 568
Level: 42
Weaknesses: Devil Killer, Bird Killer, Wind
Item gained for defeat: Running Shoes
Naturally, you should equip the “Devil Killer” and “Bird Killer”
abilities to increase the damage inflicted upon this beast, and have the
“Antibody” ability equipped in order to prevent the Poison status effect.
Amdusias will cast Level 4 Holy, so make sure the character you choose does not have a
level which is a multiple of 4. Once on the ground, Amdusias will only cast magic attacks,
while when it is in the air, it will only use physical attacks, so it may be useful for
you to have the “Auto–reflect” ability equipped in order to render
it’s magic attacks useless. However, if you do so, make sure you have the
“Auto–Regen” or “Auto–Potion” abilities equipped.
And just like the previous battles, chucking a tent on this beast will inflict every
negative status effect available upon him, so after doing so, this battle shouldn’t
be much of a problem.
Behemoth, Disc 4
HP: 24, 123
MP: 3, 338
Level: 71
Weaknesses: Ice, Beast Killer
Item gained for defeat: Circlet
By far the most difficult of the monsters in the Treno Weapon Shop. There is a 25% chance
that after you physically attack Behemoth, it will counter with Meteor, so you are best
off using a magic user, not a physical attacker. Perhaps the easiest and best way to defeat
this ferocious beast is to face it with Quina, and have him/her cast the Blue Magic ability,
“Roulette” , for a chance to defeat him instantly. If the Roulette drops on
you, simply face the beast again and repeat this method, as losing costs you nothing.
If you are determined to defeat this monster fair and square, use either Eiko or Vivi. If
Eiko, cast her most powerful Summons and her White magic ability, “Holy”.
Once in trance, have her double cast Holy for significant damage. If Vivi, cast his
most powerful spells and once in Trance, double cast his most powerful spells.
Treasure Hunter Rank (Top)
When you speak with the four–armed man in Daguerro, he will tell you your
current Treasure Hunter Rank. His true identity, as well as the
“Rank S award” Key Item will be given to you once your treasure hunter rank
has reached the “S” level, but that is no easy task.
In order for your treasure hunter rank to increase, you obviously have to collect more
treasure. Your treasure hunter rank is judged as follows:
1. You gain one point for every chest, searched field icon, item gained in event sequence,
and item purchased at the Treno Auction House. However, the “Magical Fingertip”
and “Pearl Rogue” do not count.
2. You gain two points for every treasure chest found on the World Map while riding Choco.
Once you have reached the “S” rank, talk to the four–armed man once
more, and he will be intimidated and run away. Follow him to the entrance of Daguerro and
he will award you with his true identity and the “Rank S award” Key Item.
Renaming Characters
The very rare, precious, and powerful card, Namingway, can be obtained by defeating Mario
during the card tournament in Treno, or by finding it in Kuja’s room in the Desert
Palace (you will find it near the stack of books)
Once you have the Namingway card, travel to Dagurerro and examine the block just next to
the Medicine Shop. Next, speak to the man near the bookshelves and he will inform you
that he can’t find the book he desires. Move to the right side of the room and you
will find the book he wants. After doing so, speak to him again and he will move to the
right side of the room in order to obtain this book. You will now be able to use the
stairs leading to the mid–section of Daguerro.
Talk to the man on this level and allow him see the Namingway card, and after doing so,
he will let you re–name any of your characters to however you see fit.
Frog Catching
Through the course of the game, you will continuously come across
Q’s Marsh’s; the place in which Quina originates from. If Quina is present
in your party, each time you enter the pond area of a Q’s Marsh, she/he will ask to
hunt for frogs. The game is pretty straight forward; you simply have to run to the frog
before it jumps back into the pond.
As you capture more frogs, two things occur, the first of which is the fact that
Quina’s Blue Magic ability, “Frog Drop”, will increase in the amount of
damage it inflicts. The method for this is simple: Quina’s level is multiplied by
the amount of frogs she has caught. For example, if Quina is at level 25 and has caught
50 frogs, her “Frog Drop” technique will inflict 1250 each time. This becomes
extremely useful as you level Quina up, and as you catch more frogs.
The second of these two occurrences is Quina’s teacher, Quale, appearing every once
in a while to award you with a special item for your efforts. Here is a guide on how many
frogs you have to catch in order to earn specific items:
| Amount of frogs captured: |
Item gained: |
| 2 Frogs |
Ore |
| 5 Frogs |
Ether |
| 9 Frogs |
Silk Robe |
| 15 Frogs |
Elixer |
| 23 Frogs |
Silver Fork |
| 33 Frogs |
Bistro Fork |
| 45 Frogs |
Battle Boots |
| 99 Frogs |
Gastro Fork (Quina’s Ultimate Weapon) |
Once you catch 99 frogs, Quina’s master, Quale, will challenge your party to a battle:
Quale
HP: 65, 535
MP: 3, 680
Level: 76
Weaknesses: Man Eater, Thunder
Strong VS: Water
Experience gained: 65, 535
AP gained: 10
Gil gained: 10, 800
Card gained: Grand Dragon
Items available by Zidane’s “steal” ability: Elixer, Ninja Gear,
Glutton’s Robe, Lord of Robes
The ideal way to tackle this challenge is to have Vivi, Steiner, and Freya present in
your party. Make sure Zidane, Steiner, and Freya all have the “Man Eater”
ability equipped, and have them attack Quale physically, while have Vivi concentrate on
Thunder spells. If your characters are well trained and have high HP levels, this battle
shouldn’t be much of a problem, as Quale’s attacks aren’t actually
that powerful, but his/her’s HP level is the largest within the game. To keep your
characters alive and well, have Freya cast Reis’s in order for your characters HP
to stay up, but if you concentrate on attacking after doing so, you shouldn’t have
a problem in this battle.
Once beaten, the frog catching side quest will be totally over. A tip for catching frogs
is to always leave a male and female frog in order for more frogs to grow faster, or you
could leave a male, female and a golden frog in order for them to grow as fast as possible.
However, the golden frogs only appear rarely.
