Final Fantasy Tactics Advance

Double Sword

Double Sword is probably the most useful ability in the game. The Ninja Tech ability lets you equip two weapons at the same time during combat. In addition to stricking an enemy twice with a normal attack, you can also learn two abilities at once. Soldiers, Ninjas and Paladins who know Double Sword are among the most devasting units on the battlefield.

Using Ultima

Ultima is the most powerful kind of magic in the game, but its range is limited to the weapon that the caster is holding. Once you teach a character an Ultima-based ability, switch him or her to a job tha can use long-range attacks like a Moogle Gunner or a Vierra/Human Archer.

Dealing with Stop

Stopping an enemy is a great way to destroy it without threat to your own hide, but being stopped yourself is a terrible thing. If an enemy ever freezes you in your tracks, make sure you know how to recover quickly. It could be the difference between winning a battle and going down in flames. Esuna doesn’t work on a stopped unit, so White Mages are useless. Try a Time Mage or Juggler instead. The Smile and Quicken spells are just the things to get you going again.

Law Trickery

Always know the law before you enter a battle. If you don’t like a law, walk around the World Map for a couple of days until one pops up that’s more to your liking. Also know that even if an ability is banned, an enemy can use it. If you’re fighting a Totema, for instance, and you can its main attack, don’t be surprised if it racks up the Yellow Cards turn after turn anyway. The judges tend to look the other way if an enemy has a medal besides its name - such a foe will never receive a Red Card. Spells cast under Double Cast are not counted as an ability when its banned. For instance if Summon is banned, and you double cast two summons, you will get no penalty because you are not using the actual Summon ability in the menu.

Free Item Use for Alchemists

One of the benefits of being an Alchemist is that you can use Items in battle without using an A ability slot for it! This means that the Alchemist can function as three different things when combined with other jobs!

Secret Characters

You can find five secret clan members: Shara, Ritz, Ezel, Babus and Cid. You must first beat the game once and then start a new game +. For Shara, clear the “A Maiden’s Cry” mission and then enter any town. For Ritz, clear the Mortal Snow mission. For Ezel, go to his shop in Cadoan, choose Gossip, then clear the Reconciliation Mission. For Babus, clear the Left Behind mission, then enter any town and clear the With Babus mission. Lastly, for Cid, clear all 300 official missions. (The missions listed here are not part of the normal missions).
