The Showdown of Me and I by Jason Branton]

I wish I knew all the answers
To your questions of concern
“Why are you so compassionate?
I can almost smell your emotions burn”
Maybe it’s just an odd type of fear
Fear that I’ll be taken away from here
With no one, and no place
Tear stricken, pillow smothering my face
Don’t bother to budge, I’d cut my own heart in half
Sell it to those who inquire, anything to be rid of the past
Days of confidence I never knew
Now you want to lend a hand, but I don’t think you could reach
Me now, Not even giants of compassion have that wingspan
So please just walk away, take a seat, revise yor plan
I’ll still lose, on any given day
As I battle with myself, with lefts and rights go punch for punch
Even tho fists filled with doubt, I must tell you its more than a hunch
My fight will drag you down too...
